Give Me Five Monday

The 'Give Me Five' Monday meme is designed to share fun information with each other in a simple short list! Here's how it works. Each week, Becca will put out a random topic and you share 5 answers of your choice on the given topic and link back to her!

March 10th

Give Me Five ways you like to de-stress, relax, wind down or kick back.

Oh this is a fun one! Who doesn't wish they had more time to kick back? As a mom with a household of six, I rarely have time to de-stress, but I try to make a point to take some time for myself at least once a week, even if it's only an hour.

1. A long, hot soak in a bathtub - especially if I have Bath Junkie (a specialty shop) Moisturizing Detox Rocks. It's amazing how these tiny bath salts can energize me and relax me at the same time. I can literally feel the stress flow out of my body as I soak them in. They aren't hard like most bath rocks or salts. They are soft and moist, and come in a delicious variety of fragrances. You can even create your own fragrance. There are almost endless possibilities. But, you can only get them at Bath Junkie. Lucky for me, there is one near my house.

2. A full body, deep tissue massage. We have several salons near my home, including Massage Envy which is more affordable than most "exclusive" salons. It's all about getting the right massage therapist and not hesitating to tell them what pressure you want.

3. A great novel - Curling up with a good book is one of my favorite things to do. I love mystery, drama, and suspense. I recently finished the new ones by John Grisham (The Appeal) and James Patterson (7th Heaven), two of my favorite authors. I am also really enjoying Stephen White and Robert Crais.

4. Naps - Weekends were made for naps. During the long work week, I don't get enough sleep. Too much is going through my head, and it is difficult to relax when I can think of millions of things to be done. So, the weekends for me were made for naps. It's the only time I can get "good" sleep.

5. Scrapbooking - I love to get together with a group of people and be crafty! I may not be the most imaginative person, but I can get ideas from other people, and we can share supplies. Plus, it's relaxing to have the project in front of you totally consume your thoughts so none of the little details from every-day life can creep in. And if you like to scrapbook, check out Sunday Scrappin'!
This was fun, Becca! I can't wait to read everyone else's Give Me Five!

  1. I wrote my list at the beginning of the day, had I done it now I too would have thought a bubble bath - I so need one tonight.

  2. I was with you through the first four. Scrap booking would be a source of stress for me. But the massage, the nap, it all sounds good to me.

  3. At my other house, I had a deep soaking whirlpool tub -- I miss that. I never heard of Bath Junkie.

    I like paper arts too!

  5. What a great list! I have never had a massage, but my sister loves to get them! We agree on the reading a good book. That is the best!
