Put your thinking cap on now.

I have no idea what to do for my husband for Valentine's Day this year. He's not the most romantic guy, and he never plans ahead, just to give you an idea of what he's like. He doesn't particularly like surprises. Go figure! So, I don't want to do anything too mushy, and I don't have a lot of time to devote to this since I work and have so many other obligations. I also don't want to spend more than $30 or $40. Obviously, he'll get a card (Tiny Prints has some pretty ones!) but what else?

Here's the deal. Can you come up with a unique, affordable idea for Valentine's Day? Please help me out! The person whose idea I choose will win the $50 gift certificate to Tiny Prints. Just leave your suggestion** in the comments on this post no later than January 28, 2009. One idea could get you SIX entries! See below.

Extra entries - after you've left your idea, you may do any or all of the following - Leave an extra comment for each entry.

  3. I also struggle when buying my husband gifts for anniversary or Valentines Day. You could always take a picture of the two of you and have it turned into artwork. I've been dying to have a friend do a charcoal of our family. One of these days I'll get around to it.
I already follow your blog! At Tiny Prints I really like the Love Song and True Love cards. Super cute designs!

  4. You caught me off guard. I'll have to put my thinking cap on.... Husbands are hard to gift.

How about his favorite home-made meal? You in something sexy? Balloons? Something for a hobby of his, for instance mine loves video games? Dinner & a movie? Of course, none of those are particularly unique... Yeah, I need to wear my thinking cap for a bit.

    P.S. I am subscribed to you & I do follow you. ;)

for instance did u know the honeymooners is on dvd?? Lost, 24, heros OR boxed movie sequels... rocky 1-1 million?
raiders of the lost arc, Sopranos, godfather. There are too many to name. Or if he loves sports..Dvd of that! to make it romantic, but it in a giftbag with a candle and a coupon for a backrub while he is watching the tube (massage oil too).... but my private suggestion will top all of this! hahaha

  7. Does your newspaper publish a Valentine Page? (like in the classifieds) I wished my hubby Happy Valentines Day that way for a few years (poems, lovey yet humorous). Just a couple lines. It's not too expensive & a fun surprise.

  10. First things first, I will mention you in my blog tonight-- ad also I like the furry friends valentine card.

I suggest maybe making up a coupon booklet if he's one of those hard to buy for people. You can mix it up--making one for dinner on you or out to dinner, a few romantic evening or something,--you can be creative based on what seems to be something he could use :)

  11. It is a tradition for me to write my husband a poem on Valentines Day. You mentioned that your husband isn't particularly romantic, but poems can be sweet and silly instead of overly mushy.

Since our anniversary is less than a week after V-Day, we don't spend much on it.

I like to show my husband that I care by paying attention to what he likes. I might make him a special dessert or give him some time to do his hobby (photography).

You know your husband better than anyone. Key in on what he likes and just show you care. Don't let the gift do the talking!

  16. i always wondered how a grown man who is certified unromantic by his wife, react to some flowers delivered for him at work. and who says only men can send flowers. if you haven't done this before, it might be a pleasant surprise and will be very unforgettable. and hey you can get one of your twin to deliver the flowers,... (just a thought)

    great contest!

  18. A homemade coupon book he can redeem for services from you. You can make the coupons and booklet covers on your computer and print them. Then use a hole punch and satin ribbon to assemble it. It can be sexy or just sweet things. The sweet has coupons for things like a foot massage, a dozen fresh baked cookies, a car wash, a win any argument free card, a night out with the boys, etc. The sexy one has things like a free movie scene re-enactment, a lap dance coupon, a full body massage, a dinner served while wearing victoria's secrets, a bubble bath, etc.
