Sister Schubert's Homemade Rolls- Review and Giveaway

This giveaway is now closed.  Thank you!  Congratulations commenters number 1 and 2.

I have only recently been introduced to Sister Schubert's Homemade Rolls, and I am in love with them!  Last night, I served soft pretzel rolls.  Oh, they were good!  My son begged me to get more.  They have a slightly crispy outside, and a warm, soft inside that has a hearty, unique flavor.
A few nights ago, I served the Mini Baguettes.  They have a golden crust and a soft, airy center.  I loved having my own baguette to myself!  They taste like they came straight from the bakery!

Not only do these breads taste homemade, they are also convenient and quick.  They are sold in the frozen food section of select grocery stores for less than $4 per package.  Plus, they are ready to serve in 7-9 minutes!  You can check to see if they are available in your aread by clicking here.  There are also great recipes on the Sister Schubert's website.

How would you like to win a coupon for a FREE Sister Schubert's product?  Great!  Just leave a comment on this post telling me which of these two products you would most like to try.  If you would like an extra entry, tweet this giveaway and leave a second comment with your link.  Easy!  Please make sure I have your email address.  Deadline for entry is 11:59 PM CST on December 26, 2011.  Two winners will be randomly selected.  U. S. only, please.

I was one of the bloggers selected by T. Marzetti Company and Family Review Network to host a Sister Schubert’s Homemade Rolls giveaway. They provided me with product to test myself as well as prizes for my readers. However, my opinions are entirely my own, and I have not been paid to publish positive comments.

Konsyl Review and Giveaway

Fiber.  It's not the most pleasant topic in the world, but it's one that is often necessary, particularly for women.
We all have suffered from diarrhea or constipation at one time or another.  Doctors usually recommend a psyllium fiber supplement.  Konsyl Original is the #1 doctor-recommended brand of fiber supplement.  Fiber can also help lower cholesterol, my main goal.  Fiber can help maintain or lower cholesterol thereby reducing your risk of heart disease.  Fiber actually has numerous health benefits.  So while Mary Poppins might have suggested a spoonful of sugar, I'm suggesting a spoonful of psyllium fiber.

Konsyl comes in a variety of supplement types from powders to capsules.  They also make gluten free and sugar free supplements.  I tried the Konsyl Orange Sugar Free.  It provides 6 grams of psyllium fiber per teaspoon does, which is more than other brands.  It's a smooth, easy to mix powder, and the orange flavor makes it easier for me to drink.  I also tried the Konsyl capsules, which are the easiest way to add fiber to your diet.  The capsules are both sugar free and gluten free.

If you can benefit from adding some fiber to your diet, this is the giveaway for you.  One winner will be able to select one Konsyl product to try.  All you need to do to enter is leave a comment on this post.  If you choose a powder product, you will also receive a shaker cup.  If you would like a second entry, tweet this giveaway and leave a second comment with your tweet link.  It's that simple!

Giveaway is open until 10:00 PM CST on November 11. (US and Canadian residents, please) Winner will be notified immediately and will be required to respond within 24 hours.

George Foreman Grill - Knock Out the Fat

I love my new George Foreman GRP 4B Next Grilleration Removable Plate Grill. I've never had a George Foreman grill before, but I've always wanted one. My mom has one, and she loves it.

As soon as it arrived, my husband wanted to get it open and use it immediately. He cooked a grilled cheese in it. Cooking takes less time than on the stove since the grill heats on both sides. There is no need to turn your food over to cook. The grilled cheese came out like a panini, and he enjoyed it very much.

I wanted to do hamburgers right away. Cooking on the grill outside is fine, but here in Texas, it is so hot that no one wants to stand over a hot grill. You can get the same effect from the George Foreman grill while enjoying your air conditioning!

The Next Grilleration has a patented slope design that ensures that the meat retains flavor while allowing up to 42% of the fat to drain off. That means your burger has about 89 fewer calories (using 80/20 ground chuck). The fat drips into a tray for easy clean up.

We made three extra-large hamburger patties. Our burgers cooked in about 8 minutes (I will not eat a burger if there is any red inside). We opened the grill and put some cheese on them, and it melted quickly since the patties were hot. They tasted great!

Cleanup was easy as well. I used the included nylon spatula to scrape the plates, then a warm, sponge with a little bit of dishwashing detergent. Then I wiped them with a wet paper towel and dried them. If I had wanted to, I could have removed the nonstick plates and put them in the dishwasher, but cleaning them with the sponge was a breeze.

You can check out George Foreman Cooking on Facebook. Right now there is a burger recipe contest going on. You can go vote for your favorite recipe.

So, do you have a George Foreman grill, and do you love it as much as I do?

Perfective Ceuticals

Now that I'm in my mid-40's, I look back at my so-called skin-care regimen when I was in my 20's and early 30's, and I wish I had been more pro-active.  However, I can't change that, so I try to use products now that can reduce the effects that aging has on my skin.

I've recently tried a product from Perfective Ceuticals that I like very much.  I'm using their Anti-Imperfection Eye Therapy Cream with Growth Factor.  It's a rich, thick cream that goes on the eyelids as well as under them.  It's formulated with elastin and colagen stimulators to help prevent and reduce fine lines, wrinkles, dark circles, and  puffiness.  It has a lot of complicated ingredients that have all been scientifically proven as well as some ingredients we know are good for skin such as Retinol and Gensing Extract.

If you're interested in the science behind Growth Factors, you can read about them here.  Basically, a Growth Factor is an amino acid that produces beneficial results in skin repair.  Perfective Ceuticals has four products available in their Luxury Anti-Aging Treatment Line.  The company has all of their information available online (products, science, clinical photos, ingredients, and more), and if you decide to purchase something, you can do that here.  You can also follow them on Facebook.

Ziploc Review & Giveaway - Summer Grilling Edition!

True Random Number Generator
Result:
21
Powered by RANDOM.ORG
Raettig Family is the winner!  Congratulations!
Ours is a Ziploc house.  No other brand will do when it comes to food storage.  With Ziploc, there is no question that the storage bag is strong enough and or that the seal is closed and is going to stay that way.  Ziploc is the only brand of storage bags and containers that we buy.

Ziploc Brand has partnered with Food Network contributor, cookbook author, nutritionist, and mom Robin Miller to help families get more out of their summer festivities, while saving time, money and resources. Miller has quick and hassle-free solutions to make summer entertaining and festivities a breeze.

One tip Robin suggests to keep meat juicy is to marinate before cooking.  Instead of using a dish or bowl, try marinating in a Ziploc Freezer Bag for easy cleanup.  A really clever idea is to grill kabobs (using beef, fish, or chicken) layered with onions, bell pepper or other vegetables.  When it's time to serve, have your guests help themselves to dipping stations using a variety of sauces.

You might try this Chipotle-Lime Mayo!
1/3 cup of light mayonnaise
1/2 lime, juice and zest
1 Tablespoon finely chopped fresh cilantro
1 teaspoon chipotle powder (or smoked chili powder).
Combine all ingredients, mix, season with salt and pepper, and serve.  Yum!

For more ideas and tips, join Ziploc and Robin Miller on their Facebook page.

Ziploc Summer Gift Pack giveaway! The giveaway will consist of an array of Ziploc products, including Ziploc Freezer and Storage Bags and Slider Bags as well as Ziploc Containers. Ortega Taco Night

I know I have mentioned before (probably more than once) how much I like Tex-Mex food.  I was so excited when I got a shipment from Ortega.  It included whole grain taco shells, taco sauce, and lower sodium taco seasoning.  Guess what we had for dinner that night?

And it was so good!  The shells were crispy the way I like 'em.  The seasoning was not too hot, not too mild, just right.  And even my husband liked the flavor of the taco sauce.  He usually prefers really hot sauce, but he liked the Ortega.  This was one tasty meal!

They also sent some whole wheat tortillas, so tonight, I made burritos with taco sauce, rice, beans, beef, and cheese.  Mmmm.  So good!
Check out the Ortega website for great recipes, coupons, promotions, and family activities.  Like Ortega on Facebook for special contests.

Tri Derma Review

"Every time when I look in the mirror, all these lines in my face gettin' clearer..."
Aerosmith, "Dream On"

I have been using a new product on my face twice a day for a little over a week now. The brand name is Tri Derma, and although they make several products for a variety of skin conditions including bruising, eczema, cold sores, and acne, the one I have been using is called Spot and Wrinkle Erasing cream.

The base of the cream is genuine, organic aloe. The anti-oxidants and lightening ingredients help to erase brown spots, age spots, acne scars, and fine lines. It's so much more affordable than many creams on the market right now at only $15.99 per 1 ounce tube. It's available at a large number of retailers including Kroger, Target, CVS, Walgreens, and Babies R Us.

I can't detect any fragrance when I use the cream, which is great for me because sometimes fragrances can cause my skin to break out. I've had no redness or irritation while I've been using the product, and while I think it's too soon to see any noticeable results, I'm confident that it's going to help. My makeup goes on smoothly in the morning after I use it, and my face feels smooth when I use it in the evening.

Check out all of the many products availabe from Tri Derma. I think you'll be pleased.

SymptomPak Review

We've had our fair share of coughs and colds around our house already this season. The cold/flu aisle at the store comfuses me! There are over 80 medications to choose from. Which medicine do I take for which symptoms? And should I take the one for headaches, stuffy noses, and coughs even though I don't have a headache?
That's where SymptomPak really comes in handy! It has all of the most commonly used cold and flu medicines, all in one box, yet each medication is packaged separately, so you only take the medicine for the symptoms that you have. You can take exactly the dose you need as soon as symptoms arise - without the unnecessary ingredients.

Each SymptomPak comes with 5 medications: Acetaminophen (pain/fever reducer), Phenylephrine (decongestant), Dextromethorphan (cough), Guaifenisen (expectorant), Chlorpheniramine (antihistamine). There is also an easy-to-follow dosing guide.

One of the handiest features available on the SymptomPak website is a comparison page. You can compare the ingredients in over a dozen of the name brand over-the-counter cold and flu medications. They also have an online symptom-treatment matcher. Just check your symptoms, click next, and receive instructions on which medicine to take.

SymptomPak makes so much more sense than buying products with medications in them that you don't necessarily need, and it's suitable for anyone in the family over the age of 6. It's available at a number of online retailers including Target, Rite Aid, and Amazon. Refills are also available. SymptomPak is affordable, convenient, and sensible.

Kraft Cracker Barrell Cheese Review

My family loves cheese. My husband says, "You could put cheese on a match book and it would taste good." Cheese... on toast, crackers, casseroles, hot dogs, hamburgers, sandwiches, pasta, or even by itself.

I received a package from Kraft/Cracker Barrel with two kinds of cheeses inside. The box was opened by my husband, and the cheese half eaten, before I even got home from work! Must be good!

Kraft has introduced Cracker Barrel Limited Edition Holiday Reserve Cheese. It's available at your local grocery store... but only until January 1, 2011 (thus, the "limited edition in the name). My son says I have to stock up!

We tried the Natural Extra Sharp White Cheddar. My husband and son like it plain. Just the cheese, please. I prefer it on crackers. It is smooth, creamy, and a little nutty. It wasn't as sharp as I expected it to be, which was good. I usually prefer milder cheeses. But this cheese gets my seal of approval. It's got the Cracker Barrel name on it; it has to be good. It will make a great appetizer at this year's holiday gatherings, but I better get it now, before it's all gone!

Decadent Cakes and Amazing Glazes Review

Duncan Hines has introduced two new products! Decadent Cake Mixes (available in Triple Chocolate, Apple Caramel, and Classic Carrott and two new Amazing Glazes in vanilla and chocolate.

Decadent is the best way to describe the cake I made with real apples and caramel sauce drizzled throughout it. It was so EASY! And boy, did my house smell good! I used the Vanilla Glaze instead of icing. It should be a sin to eat something so heavenly! I made it here at home, and my family ate half of it in one night. I took the other half to work the next day and it was gone in a flash. I got so many compliments on the cake! It was moist, just the right spices, real apples, sweet caramel, and the smooth glaze was also a hit. Definitely Decadent!

I plan to use the triple chocolate for a Thanksgiving dessert. I could make the cake as is, or use one of the recipes that came with my cakes. The chocolate biscotti bars sound delightful, and the red velvet cake using whipped topping and cherry pie filling along with the triple chocolate cake - the thought just makes my mouth water. You can click here for a $1.00 coupon.

On behalf of Family Review Network and Forgetfulone, Thank you, Duncan Hines, for providing these sinfully delicious products in exchange for my honest opinion.

Barbara's Bakery

Okay, so the picture is a little crooked! My daughter took it, but you can see these goodies!

"Good for you" CAN taste good! I love these Barbara's Bakery Products I've been trying. They've been in business 40 years now, but this is the first time I've heard of them. Barbara's says NO to:

Hydrogenated Oil
Artificial Flavors
Artificial Preservatives
Refined Sugar
Trans Fat
Artificial Additives
High Fructose Corn Syrup

Now, let me tell you this... I DO NOT LIKE Baked Lays of any kind. So, I was wary, but I have to say that I LOVE these White Cheddar Cheese Baked Puffs! they were gone so fast! My husband liked them, too. My daughter didn't like those, but she enjoyed the Snackimals. The High Fiber Cereal with Cranberry was also yummy! And my oldest step-daughter likes the fact that the Multi-Grain Cereal is gluten-free.

Where can you get these tasty cereals and snacks? Visit Barbara's Bakery on the web or find them on Facebook. You can print a $1 coupon at their website or enter their makeover contest. Barbara's Bakery products are also available at most Randall's and Safeway stores.

Glade Scented Oil Candle & Decorative Glass Holder

Candles! I love them! And these new Glade scented oil candles in the pretty, glass containers are adorable. They will burn for two-three hours, and when the oil is gone, the flame goes out. How handy is that? Plus, you can buy refills instead of replacing the entire candle. This candle you see? The fragrance is clean linen, and I love it! It also looks pretty in my bathroom. I just find candles to be so relaxing.

Also, between September 1 and October 31, 2010, fans can create their personalized glass holder for the chance to win $10,000 and have their design sold in stores nationwide! And it's quite fun using the design tools! I chose a simple heart on a lavendar background.

Here is your chance to win a Glade Scented Oil Candle! Random.org will help me choose a winner soon, so enter no later than midnight on October 21st, CST. This giveaway is only open to US residents. Please make sure I have a way to reach you via email.

Halls - Cold AND Allergy Relief

Cold and flu season is upon us! Do you have your Halls? Halls has been a trusted name in cough and cold-relief products for... I don't know how long. A long time! Many of their products are available in a sugar-free version.

Ziploc Review & Giveaway

Random.org selected comment #21. Melanie is the winner. Congratulations!
We have been back in the swing of things with school for four weeks now, and since we take our lunches every day (including me), this opportunity to review Ziploc products couldn't have come at a better time! Ziploc sent me a great package including sandwich bags, Quart Size Storage Bags with the Smart Zip Seal, Quart Size Slider Bags, and Square Containers with the Smart Snap Seal.

Ziploc has always been a company I trust. I love the tight seal on the sandwich bags so I don't have to worry about it coming open. The quart size bags are great when I buy those value packs of meat. I separate the meat into two or three freezer bags that are the perfect size for a family dinner. The quart sized storage bags are great for food, but they're also perfect for storing legos, marbles, coins that we are taking to cash in, and so many other things. The Ziploc containers with the Smart Snap Seal are fairly deep, and they keep my leftovers fresh. I can take them to lunch in the same container.

GIVEAWAY! The generous people at Ziploc, an SC Johnson Family Company, are going to give one of my readers a package of three products:

Storage Bags with the Smart Zip Seal

Freezer Slider Bags

Containers with the Smart Snap Seal.

Giveaway is open to US residents only. You may enter until 11:59 PM CST on September 26, 2010. Please make sure I have a way to reach you via email.

Envyderm for Eyelashes Review & Giveaway

Random.org chose comment #3, Ferret Finds, as the winner. Congratulations! I've been using Envyderm Eyelash Growth Serus for a little over two weeks now. I don't know how to measure the length of my lashes, but they do appear a little thicker and darker. I'm not sure how much you can tell from the before and after photos, either. I'm going to continue to use it since it may take 4-6 weeks to see the best results.

Before picture on the left. After picture on the right.

I have sensitive eyes, so I was worried it would bother me, but I've had NO side effects from it. Envyderm is easy to apply, just like liquid eyeliner. Just use it once a day after taking off your makeup.

Envyderm guarantees results. This eyelash growth serum uses peptide technology along with vitamins and proteins to naturally lengthen and strengthen eyelashes. You could see up to a 72% growth in length and/or thickness within six weeks. It's environmentally safe and has not been tested on animals. Unlike other lash serums, NO PRESCRIPTION IS REQUIRED.

Envyderm sent me an extra tube to share with one of my readers! This giveaway is open to US residents only (since I will be paying for the shipping myself) and will end on Sept. 9, 2010 at 11:59 PM. Since this prize is a $100 value, there is a three-step entry requirement.

Certain Dri Anti-Perspirant and Giveaway

This giveaway is closed. Kathy is the winner.
I've been using Certain Dri Anti-Perspirant for a few days now in place of my regular anti-perspirant/deodorant, and I can tell you... I'm pleased. It keeps me dry, even in this Houston heat!

Certain Dri now comes in a solid, which is the kind I have been using. It feels dry going on, keeps me dry, and has a light, pleasant fragrance. It's also the leading dermatologist recommended product for controlling excessive underarm perspiration. The solid is made with 25% aluminum sesquichlorohydrate, the strongest over-the-counter formula available.

The makers of Certain Dri recommend using the solid before bedtime. A morning shower won't wash it away. And it will continue to work for up to 72 hours.

Certain Dri is available at most supermarkets and drug stores nationwide for about $5.50.

Giveaway! The makers of Certain Dri will send one of my readers the same item I received, a 1.7 ounce solid stick. U. S. Residents only. Please make sure I have an email to reach you at. Deadline for entry, September 1, 11:59 PM.

Rhoto Eye Drops Review & Giveaway

This giveaway has ended. Julie is the winner. Congratulations! Ever since I had Lasik surgery in 2002, my eyes have been extremely dry. I have to use moisturizing drops 2-3 times a day. I recently tried Rhoto Hydra drops, and they helped to relieve the nagging, dry feeling, especially when I wake up in the morning. They left my eyes with a cool sensation. Rhoto Hydra drops are formulated to be similar to natural tears. My husband tried the Rhoto Cool drops to relieve some redness he had, probably due to lack of sleep and extra stress at work. He said the drops were soothing.

Rhoto products are available several ways. You can order by phone at 1-877-470.2982. You can purchase a 3-pack online for only $20 using PayPal. You can also order individual bottles online from Drugstore.com. They are also sold at Kroger, Walgreens, Rite Aid, and several other major retailers.
