Focus on the Positive

Today is my "Focus on the Positive Day!"  Here is my happy list!

1.  My relationship with my husband is in a good place.  We are enjoying each-other's company with some quality time for just the two of us every day.

2.  I've been looking online at dresses I could make for this little cutie.

3.  We are going to see that little cutie in a few days!!!!

4.  I'm looking at things to make for this little cutie's sibling who will be born  in about 3 months:  Bibs, blankets, burp cloths.  We won't know gender till he/she is born.  I'll be making an "I'm the big sister" shirt and an "I'm the little sister/brother" onsie.

5. Three days ago, my daughter, sister-in-law, and I went to "A Wizard's Summerfest" which was a dinner theater and marketplace with a Harry Potter theme. Another HP themed event is coming in August.

6.  I started working on the handbag I'm making for myself.  It will be made like this one but with my choice of fabric.

This is the fabric I chose.

7.  My daughter introduced me to an app called Bonza which is a twist on crossword puzzles.  I feel like it will help me keep my mind sharp.

8.  My husband and I tried a new restaurant called Go Shabu Hot Pot Buffet.  It  reminds me of The Melting Pot, a churrascaria (Brazilian steakhouse like Fogo de Chao, and an Asian buffet all in one.

9.  My pretty kitty makes me happy!
Taking a nap under the covers.

And as soon as I finish this post, I will probably think of something else to list!

The website Verywellmind discusses some of the benefits of positive thinking.  They are realistic knowing that everything isn't happy 100% of the time, but it is helpful to face problems with the mindset of finding solutions.  You can read more here if you're interested.

Happy List

Amidst all the chaos and difficulties of the past couple of weeks, I NEED to take time out to count my blessings, no matter how big or small so I'm linking up with Mamarazzi today.

Right now I am happy that today is Tuesday because I thought it was Wednesday.  All day yesterday, I thought it was Tuesday.  I get an extra day back!

I'm happy that I am finally going to have my diagnostic procedure next Monday.  The sugery center was going to charge me $1,030.00 to use their facility.  I said no way! The hospital where my step-son and daughter-in-law both work is only charging me $80.  Yes, $80.  I am happy!

I bought my daughter a new bed, and making her happy makes me happy.  Now I need to get a car or truck for my son and make him happy!  Does making your kids happy make you happy?

Happy List

I'm linking up with Mamarazzi today to tell you some of my "happies."

I'm so happy that the surprise party for the twins' 16th birthday is over!  It was stressfull.  But it stayed a surprise, which not only makes me happy, it amazes me.  I love pulling one over on my kids!  Hahaha.  I always wanted someone to throw me a surprise party, so I'm glad I was able to do it for my kids.

I'm happy I don't have to plan any more birthday parties!  They are old enough now that we will probably just have birthday dinners with family, and not parites.  Yay!  The only party I will probably need to plan (in two years) is a graduation party.  And someday... weddings - but I don't even want to think about that for at least six years!

Most of all, I'm happy that I was ABLE, both physically and financially, to have their party.  I am blessed.

And last, I'm happy that I get to go on a short vacation in a few weeks.  We're going on a cruise to Key West and Cozumel - and Cozumel is my all-time, favorite happy place!

I am Blessed

I'm linking up with Mamarazzi today.

I'm so happy and proud of my daughter.  Not only does she perform with marching band (flags) and winterguard... not only is she in her second year of learning ASL and planning to take at least one more year of it... not only is she in pre-advanced placement classes... and not only does she attend church regularly, but she is also being inducted into the National Honor Society tonight.

And I'm proud of my son, too.  Pre-advanced placement class, participated in FFA, and now he's playing baseball.  Did you read about his awesome game over the weekend?

Last, my husband bought me some shrubs to plant this weekend, and he re-sodded our entire front yard today.  It looks great!

My Happy List

Spring Break was a happy week!  Time off from school/work, staying up late, sleeping late, reading a lot, privacy with DH (since the kids were gone most of the time) and a short trip to San Antonion and Fredericksburg.
Walking on the San Antonio Riverwalk (before it gets crowded).

Spending time with my sister.

Awesome live music!

A beautiful view in the hotel

My first visit to a winery

And great central Texas barbecue in Lockhart on the way home! (We've been to at least 6 restaurants that have been featured on the food network.)

What's on your happy list today?  Link up with Mamarazzi!

My Happy List

Link up your Happy List at Dandelion Wishes!

So much to be happy about right now.

It's Spring break!

Massage yesterday to work out some of the knots.

Eyebrow wax today (and maybe a pedi later).

Short road trip to San Antonio later in the week.

Sleeping late!

Reading when I want to.

And the best...

I started my break by chaperoning my daughter's winterguard team at a contest.  The performance was beautiful, and they took home the third place trophy!

And I got to see my older daughter perform with her independent winterguard, and she was flawless! What a happy start to my spring break!

My Happy List

This is Mamarazzi's weekly link-up!  What are you happy about today?

I'm happy for this...

The hubz and I "celebrated" our Valentine's Day early with dinner at Olive Garden this weekend.  I received these gorgeous flowers today, and we'll be going to lunch togther since I'm taking off half a day to have a medical prodecure done.  I'm thinking there will be bath stuff, candles, or candy to follow!

Trivia:  Parlement of Foules is a poem written by Geoffrey Chaucer in 1318.  This is the first recorded evidence linking Valentine's Day to romantic love. Chaucer wrote:

For this was on seynt Volantynys day
Whan euery bryd comyth there to chese his make.

Happy Valentine's Day, everyone!

My Happy List

Have you joined Mamarazzi for the Happy List link party yet?  If not, you're missing out!  What a great chance to blog about the goodness in our lives.  And after the week I had last week, well, let's just say I did NOT post a happy list last week!  Ha!  Funny how a few days can make everything better.

Happy #1
Dinner with friends and co-workers at Pappasito's last Friday -  with happy hour prices and a free appetizer!  I had such a great time.  Do you have Pappasito's where you live?  GREAT Mexican food!

Happy #2
Getting caught up on my TV shows!  Once Upon a Time, Grey's Anatomy, The Mentalist, and Castle.  I usually don't have time to watch.

Happy #3
My daughter was nominated for National Honor Society.  Woo hoo!

Happy #4 - and my favorite "happy" of the week...
Watching my daughter's first WinterGuard performance.  I was amazed!  I hadn't seen their routine before, and my jaw was on the floor the entire time.  I had no idea the things she could do and how awesome the team looked together!  They are "statues" who come to life.  I recorded the show, but it was a little shaky at first, and my recorder cut off before the end.  But I got most of it!  They got 5th place out of 13 in their class, which isn't bad considering most of them have been doing this for only a few months.  And they're getting better and better.  My daughter is in the middle of the front (not the first one who dances, but just to the left of her).  I wish I had the ending!  Next time!

Here is a picture of the ending.

My Happy List

If you saw my blog yesterday, you know I didn't have much happiness lighting up my life.  It wasn't necessarily awful, I just had to do a lot of things I didn't enjoy doing.  Today, though, I will focus on the positive and tell you what I'm happy about.

I'm happy that the movie One for the Money is coming out Friday!  I have read the entire Stephanie Plum series by Janet Evanovich, and I've anxiously awaited this movie!  I wonder if they will try to do the whole series, but considering there are 18 so far, I don't know.  And I love the actress who is playing Stephanie, Katherine Heigl.

I'm happy that my son's rabbits will be in the district livestock show tomorrow, and super happy that I am taking a day off to be there to watch.  Wish us luck!  (Here's Mr. Curious!)

I'm happy that my daughter's first Winterguard show/contest is in ten days.  I'm so excited to see the fruits of her labor.  And I get to chaperone!

I'm especially happy that my phone should be in today!  I've been without a phone for three days, and I'm so ready to have it back!

And I'm happy that I truly am blessed... family, friends, career.  I am blessed.

My Happy List

Link up with My So-called Chaos while Mamarazzi takes a break.  Tell us what you're happy about right now!

First, I'm happy that my son is so enthusiastic about the rabbits.  We've had them almost a week, and I pray his enthusiasm remains.  We have five rabbits, and he will "show" three of them at the livestock show in five weeks.  I love that he is interested and responsible.

I'm happy our tree is finally up and decorated.  It took long enough this year!  The mantle is also decorated, and the wreath is on the front door, but some decorating remains.  I'm happy we've made some progress.

I'm happy I've made some progress on my shopping.  I used to be the kind of person who was finished right after Thanksgiving, but the demands of life have slowed me down considerably.  On the good side, I am thisclose to being finished.  Better yet, my daughter loves to wrap presents, which frees me to do some other things!  Bonus!

I am soooooooooooooo incredibly happy we only have three and a half days of school until Christmas break.  It's been a long, busy semester, but there is a bright light at the end of the tunnel!

And I'm also happy because I think I got the perfect gift for my husband today.  I can't tell you what it is in case he's reading this, but I think he's going to love it!  Yay me!

And last, I am happy with the way my Shutterfly photo book turned out.  I hope my mom enjoys it as much as I enjoyed creating it.  (And if you scroll down one post or click this link, you can enter to win a free 8x8 photo book from Shutterfly!  What a unique gift!)

Lots to be happy about right now, but it's time for bed now.

My Happy List

Link up with Mamarazzi to share what's making you happy right now!

My daughter, a sophomore in high school, made the Varsity Winter Guard team!  She worked so hard, and I am so proud of her!  Winter Guard is a performance that combines dance, flags, rifles, and sabres set to music in a choreographed routine.  I'm just so happy for her!

My son and I attended a rabbit clinic last week and learned a lot about raising show rabbits.  I'm happy that he is involved in this activity!  We are getting five rabbits in less than a month, and he will have six weeks to get his rabbits ready for show.  Best of all, he is learning responsibility, discipline, and the importance of hard work and dedication.

I am absolutely ecstatic that I finally caught up with my email.  I have been behind in reading messages for weeks now.  What a burden lifted!

And you know what really makes me happy?  Clean sheets!  There isn't much better than climbing into a bed with freshly laundered sheets, especially if they have been spritzed with some lavendar pillow mist. Heaven!

What are you happy about today?

My Happy List

Join Mamarazzi to talk about all the things that are making you happy right now.

My children's high school band (on which my daughter is a member of the color guard) placed 7th overall (out of 32 bands from Texas, Alabama, South Carolina, Florida, and Georgia) in the southwest region at a competition in Atlanta last weekend.  Yippeeeee!

I'm also happy that my husband brought me flowers tonight - pretty, white lillies.  I love them!
I am extremely happy there are only 8 more school days until we are out for a week at Thanksgiving.  And one of those days, I get to go to jury duty instead of teaching.  Woo hooo!

I took my test for English as a Second Language certification today.  I'm happy it's over!

Why are you happy today?
