Trick-or-Treaters

The last few years, we have stopped giving out candy at Halloween.  First, the younger population in our neighborhood has slowly declined in number.  Also, we don't know any little kids that aren't our grandchildren and their friends who live in another city.

When all of the kids on the street were growing up, we would have a block party with games, face painting, and supervised trick-or-treating.  They're all grown now.

More important, I see it as a safety issue.  For me.  You never know if the person on the other side of that door is kind, friendly, and harmless; They might be mean, antisocial (except when free candy is being handed out), and they may see Halloween as a good time to do harmful things to other people.  There are no guarantees about who you're going to have knocking on your door.  Grown adults sometimes.

A few years ago, we decided to go out to a late dinner (later than our typical time) and come home shortly after the time the kids were heading home.  That worked well, and we did that for a few years.  This year (and last year as well) we will be on a cruise for Halloween.  I like this new tradition we are creating (vacation).

Have some recycled Halloween humor!

Not for me, of course!

Have a great week!  And Happy Halloween!
