Rate the Oscars

Join us for Heads or Tails, a fun meme hosted by Barb at Skittles Place. She gives us a theme, and we run with it! Today, we are to choose any past theme. Mine is from December 29, 2009: RATE. You can also check out the Monday Movie Meme on The Bumbles Blog.

OK. I lied yesterday. Just a little. I did watch part of the Oscars. My kids made me!

How do you RATE last night's Oscar show and winners? Was that really Doogie Howser opening the show? What's up with that? I do, however, like Steve Martin and Alec Baldwin as hosts. They make a good team. I loved Steve Martin's remark about how he and Mo' Nique are alike: They were both born poor black children! Oh, that made me laugh! If you're too young, you won't get that. They had quite a few funny bits. Without some humor, I wouldn't watch for three minutes!

Best Picture - The Hurt Locker (I'm soooo disappointed!)

Actor in a Leading Role - Jeff Bridges (I was rooting for my fave, Morgan Freeman)

Actress in a Leading Role - Sandra Bullock (Yes!)

Directing - Kathryn Bigelow (Finally, a woman, but I was rooting for James Cameron)

More importantly... how do you rate the fashion? I loved some of the dresses: Penelope Cruz, Cameron Diaz, Queen Latifah, and Sandra Bullock. Most, I admit, were unimpressive, and some were downright, "What was she thinking?". My favorite "tweet" about the fashion was this: RT @justinfrechette Zoe Saldana's dress looks like she is carrying Cookie Monster on her train. Doesn't that crack you up!? Overall, I RATE the show GOOD. Love the John Hughes tribute. Loved the dancing. And loved the speeches where the winners were actually gracious (for example, Sandra Bullock). The hosts made a great team and kept me in stitches. The 82nd Academy Awards will probably win an Emmy for outstanding awards show.
