Happy Random Tuesday

Hello from Granbury, Texas!  My mini-vacation is coming to an end.  It has been both relaxing and fun.  We spent an hour and a half on the lake yesterday.  Thank goodness I still had a scopolamine patch leftover from a cruise a few years ago.  I get terrible motion sickness, even on huge cruise ships, so this smallish pontoon boat would have been horrible without medication.

We spent some time at a wildlife park (deer, zebras, giraffes, cheetahs, etc.) and feeding the donkeys that live here at the cabins where we are staying as well as browsing some shops in the square.  The biggest disappointment was a plan to visit a museum that was supposed to be open, but when we got there, it was closed up tighter than a drum.  And the other two museums in town that I know of are only open on weekends.  In fact, quite a few local businesses are completely closed on Mondays and Tuesdays.

The only history I got to experience was what I read on plaques around town and in parks as well as on the Internet.  We went in a shop that was once a saloon where John Wilkes Booth purportedly worked as a bartender under the assumed name John St. Helen.  And supposedly, Jesse James came to Granbury shortly before he died and was buried here.  Davy (Remember the Alamo) Crockett's widow lived near Granbury after the The Texas Revolution.  That one is an actual fact as there are still relatives living of the Crocketts living in Hood County.  But, alas, my historical hopes were dashed.

Enough about me and my travels (for now), though...

And last, but not least...
Have a great week!  Don't forget to visit Random Tuesday Thoughts and Happy Tuesday.

  1. Even if things were not open when you were there, a vacation is always a nice thing. Great funnies too!

  2. I'm sorry things weren't open for you, but it sounds like you had a great time anyway.

    Love all the funnies.

Thank you for joining the Happy Tuesday Blog Hop.

  3. Maybe you can get back there to see more, and meanwhile, it's nice to get away.
