Packing for A Scrapbook Retreat

My sister and I try to get away at least once a year for a scrapbooking retreat.  We started doing this shortly after my dad passed away 10 1/2 years ago.  It gives us some bonding time, and it's fun, too!  We've been to several different places, but we found one we love.  It's called Rockin R Retreat in Temple, Texas.  This one is by far our favorite!

Now, there are always certain supplies you need at a scrapbook retreat such as photos, paper, adhesives, embellishments, but there are certain things I like to pack in addition to the typical items.

1.  Beverages - They have coffee, tea, and water, but I like a soda every now and then, and occasionally, a glass of wine.
2.  Extra adhesives - No matter how many I pack, I usually run out, so I will be bringing double extra tape runners, glue sticks, and glue dots.
3.  Computer - While it isn't impossible to scrap 24/7 for four days, everyone needs a little break now and then.  I can play computer games, watch Netflix, and keep up with social media.  Besides, sometimes I like to type my journaling boxes.  And sometimes, I even forget details or dates, so I can look them up.
4.  Printer - Some retreats have printers, but I prefer to have my own so I can print my journaling boxes or make personalized stickers.
5.  Ipod - I don't have to listen to the music on the speaker system if I don't want to.  I can hear my own.  Just like runners have certain playlists, so do scrappers.
6.  Headphones - to listen to music.  Other people may not like what I like.  There is nothing I hate worse than being subjected to someone else's music that I don't like.
7.  Slippers - My feet tend to get cold.  Slippers are less slippery than socks.
8.  Pillow - They provide a bed and pillow, but one isn't enough, and I like to take one of my super soft feather pillows.  It's easier to sleep that way.

9.  Bartering supplies - There is always a place to leave supplies you no longer want or need, and if you take something with you, you can check out what other people have and maybe make a worthwhile trade.
10. Snacks - Again, they do provide snacks, but everyone has their favorite.  One of mine is Cheetos Puffs.  I didn't like them when I was a kid, but now, I could eat a whole bag!
11.  Scotch tape - This comes in handy in many ways.
12.  Baggies - This is how I will keep up with any small items that I take out of a package and have nowhere else to keep.
13.  Idea books - The hardest part about scrapbooking is deciding what I want to put on the page.  I love looking through idea books then making my own plan based on something that catches my attention.  I usually make changes in the ideas or sketches, but they are a great starting place.

I am so looking forward to being creative!

  2. I never heard of a scrapbooking retreat. It sounds like fun. I do collage and some collage book journaling, mostly with photos and clipped and found objects.
