Wonderful Weekend!

The hubs and I were kid-free this weekend!  My ex moved out of state, so he can't pick them up on weekends, and my step-daughter's mom never sees her daughters (long story), so everyone is always here.  The two of us haven't had a weekend alone since the first of August.  Wow!

We started with dinner and drinks at one of our favorite restaurants, Carabba's Italian Grill.  We then went home and enjoyed some more drinks, and truly enjoyed each other's company.

Saturday, he had to work a while which allowed me to sleep late, one of my favorite things to do. We went to a late, late lunch/early dinner at Gringo's.  Love my Tex-Mex.  Then we went to my step-son's house for a crawfish boil.  Yes, we ate first because neither of us likes crawfish (crayfish, mud bugs, craw-deds, or whatever you want to call them).

Not a great photo, but you get the idea... a baby pool filled with icky, crawling, crawfish!  Saturday evening, we did some shopping together (Hobby Lobby and Bed, Bath & Beyond, then we watched a movie together.

On Sunday, we had to get back to business.  Laundry, cleaning, grocery shopping.  Oh, and don't forget golf for him and a pedicure for me!  My first professional pedicure in... who knows how long?  Plus, I got to scrapbook a little bit.  The hubs grilled burgers for dinner once the kids got home, and we had a nice relaxing evening.  Best weekend I've had in a long, long time!

Great Weekend

What a great weekend! Friday night, I was invited to the Painted Potter for a birthday party. Yes, for adults (although the birthday girl is only 26). And it was super-fun! We ate, chatted, and painted the night away. I can't wait to see how my butterfly looks after it's fired/glazed.

Saturday, the kids and I got hair cuts, and I took my daughter shopping at Ulta and Barnes and Noble. Saturday night, my husband and I went to the Grand 1894 Opera House in Galveston (what an incredbile venue) to see "A Tuna Christmas." Joe Sears and Jaston Williams are hilarious!

Sunday after church, we went to my mom's to celebrate her birthday (see picture above). We had lunch and gave her some gifts. Then we had a blast playing the iTouch version of Truth or Dare. We were rolling on the floor laughing! It was good to see her smile and have so much fun a couple of days after her chemo treatment. What an awesome weekend!

I am Woman

Hear me roar! (Anyone else remember that song by Hellen Reddy?)
The breakdown of how I spent the majority of my weekend...

2 hours chaperoning a school dance
12 hours at the hospital (over 2 days)
4 hours driving time to/from hospital (2 days)
1 hour cleaning at my mom's house

Now, of course, I did a few other things like making sure my children were fed and having Halloween fun, and picking them up from their activities. Sunday, after spending most of the day at the hospital, plus the hour drive out and the hour drive home, I had to stop on the way home to get a few household items. And when I got home I had to clean house. Change the cat litter, laundry, vacuum half the house (the kids did the other half), mop the downstairs, change the sheets in 2 rooms, and make 3 lunches for school. The I planned tomorrow's school lessons.

After this weekend, I was just pooped! But, wow! Didn't I accomplish a lot?

Friday Fill-ins

1. One week ago I was looking forward to my birthday lunch with my mom and sis.
2. I wanted to be a ballerina or a teacher when I was young.
3. Mama told me not to let my ex take advantage of me.
4. This is between you and me.
5. Take your time and you'll be late!
6.This too will pass!
7. And as for the weekend, tonight I'm looking forward to Fogo de Chao for my birthday dinner with my husband, tomorrow my plans include catching up on school work and possibly scrapbooking, and Sunday, I want to rest!

Won't you join us for Friday Fill-ins!

Friday Fill-ins

This is a new meme for me! I hope you enjoy it, and I hope you'll join everyone over at Friday Fill-ins for another fun meme.

1. Oh, I can't wait until I have a massage next Tuesday! Ahhhhhh!

2.The Brita water pitcher is the first thing I see when I open my refrigerator.

3. I never leave home without ...American Express Traveler's Cheques. Just kidding. I'm imitating a highly successful ad campaign (1975 - 2000) that starred Karl Malden. My answer is "keys" because without keys, I won't ever be able to leave home!

4. If I were a condiment, I would be Ketchup because most kids like ketchup, and most kids like me!

5. Bicyclists who ride in the middle of heavily travelled streets when they could use the sidewalk is really high up on my list of pet peeves.

6. The last thing I thought of before I went to bed was what I dreamed about, but I don't remember what that was.

.

7. And as for the weekend, tonight I’m looking forward to relaxing and watching a movie, tomorrow my plans include taking my daughter and myself to get a pedicure, and Sunday, I want to go to church before I have to say goodbye to my twins for another two weeks!
