Fun Photos!

I hope you'll join me at Wordless Wednesday (On the main blog but also on the Comedy Plus WW) and on Image-in-ing.

This is the Truckee River that runs through Reno.

Whale Sculpture near the Truckee River in Reno

Just a note:  The Space Whale is a full scale stained glass humpback whale mother and calf. A monumental testament to family, our relationships with nature, time and space and our responsibility to preserve our environment. Originally appearing as the Keyhole project at Burning Man 2016, The Space Whale now lives in front of City Hall in Reno, NV.

The Biggest Little City in the World!

Just a note:  Reno is known as the "Biggest Little City in the World" because it offers the diverse amenities and excitement of a large city within a smaller setting.

Fun Photos!

One of my favorite outings in London was visiting the Tower of London because I read so much historical fiction about England's kings and queens and royal families, and the tower almost always plays a role in these stories.

Traitor's Gate

Window Seat in one of the chambers.

The ravens are the guardians of the tower.  But they will bite!  Both my husband and I got bitten.
Mine was on top of my foot (thanks for my shoe protecting me)
and his was on his shin (thankfully he had on jeans).

They don't allow you to take photos of the Crown Jewels, or else you'd see some of those beauties here.

You can visit Wordless Wednesday here and here.

Not-so-wordless Wednesday

In 2018 we went to Memphis to watch the Rockets play against the Grizzlies.  We happened to be staying in the same hotel as our team.  I was able to get several pictures with players. Here is one of them.  (NaNa) Memphis would be a great city to visit even if you were going for a simple vacation.

I hope you will visit Wordless Wednesday here and here and get them to add me to the list while I'm out of town.

Fun Photos

From our recent trip to Marfa which is in Far West Texas. (Yes, there's West and Far West!)

El Presario where the cast from the Liz Taylor/Rock Hudson/James Dean movie Giant (1956) lived during filming.

Our "boutique" hotel - really a set of 10 small houses, all different.

Iconic sign and water tower

Fun Photos

We visited the Davis Mountains and Fort Davis last week.  From the National Park Service website:  "A key post in the defense system of western Texas, Fort Davis played a major role in the history of the Southwest. From 1854 until 1891, troops stationed at the post protected emigrants, freighters, mail coaches, and travelers on the San Antonio-El Paso Road hoping to reach the gold fields of California. Today, Fort Davis is considered one of the best remaining examples of a frontier military post in the American Southwest. It is a vivid reminder of the significant role played by the military in the settlement and development of the western frontier."

Fun Photos - Bayou Bend Bridges

 I love bridges!

These bridges are part of the Ima Hogg/Bayou Bend Gardens.  Ima Hogg, often called the Mother of Texas, was a philanthropist who left her home and gardens to the Museum of Fine Arts here in Houston when she died.  It is such a beautiful, serene place.

Fun Photos

I took these photos of the Menger Hotel in San Antonio, Texas (next to the Alamo) when we stayed there in 2019.  The Menger is supposed to be the most haunted hotel in San Antonio.  Luckily, if we ran into any of the ghosts during our stay, they were quiet. I do believe there is a ghost who lives in the bathroom near the bar, which is also said to have many spirits hanging around.  The bathroom definitely had a "presence."  Very creepy!  But nothing unusual happened in our room during our stay.
