Friday - Friendship and Friendly Fill-ins

Hello everyone!  I have been pretty crafty the last couple of weeks, so I want to show the Friendship Friday readers at Create with Joy two things.

First is my Autumn centerpiece.  I bought a wood trough at Michael's (one of my top 3 stores for craft supplies). I did some decoupage on the sides and ends then filled it with things that remind me of Fall, like moss, neutral flowers, acorns, pinecones, orange accents, and a sage-colored candle in a small hurricane glass.

Second, I made this cute little Ho-Ho-Ho sign for one of my daughters.  I saw it on Pinterest, but that person had used a round sign (makes sense, because Santa is pretty round).  I used what I had on hand.  A thin, rectangular piece of unfished wood, twine, paint, silver and white cardstock, and ribbon and fake pine needles for the bow. I love how it turned out!

And speaking of Michael's and my favorite craft stores, when I shop online, I get cash back from Rakuten.  It's really easy.  This month I am getting $39 just for buying things I was going to buy anyway.  See if they have your favorite stores!

Now, for Friendly Fill-ins!  These are hosted by Four-Legged Furballs and 15 and Meowing.

1. I am thankful for ______________, _____________________ and ________________________.

2. I look forward to eating ________________ on Thanksgiving.

3. I didn’t realize _________ until _________.
4. There’s no shame in _________.

My answers:

1.  I am thankful for God, family, and retirement.

2.  I look forward to eating turkey, cornbread dressing, giblet gravy, and cranberry sauce - the jelly kind -  on Thanksgiving.  It's my favorite "food" holiday of the year!

3.  I didn't realize how much I could miss family members until they moved away.😭

4.  There's no shame in seeking assistance for mental health issues.  At least, that's what I try to tell myself.

Have a great weekend!  Good books, good crafting, or whatever makes you happy!

It's a Friendly Friday

Grab these questions and play along!

 1. Something I lost and was never able to find was _________

2. When I _________, I want to _________.

3. _________ doesn't bother me.

4. I don't handle _________ very well.

Friendly Fill-Ins is hosted by Four-legged Furrballs and 15 and Meowing.  What drew me to both of their sites is that I love cats (and dogs, just not as much as cats, tee-hee) and it looks like they do, too.

Something I lost and was never able to find was
where I stored all of my digital photos from 2006.  I like to scrapbook, but I only have a few photos from that year, so I've just had to skip over it and keep going.  I know they were on a computer that crashed, but I'm positive I backed them up on Snapfish, Walgreens, Shutterfly, something like that.  Can't find 'em!

When  I go to the grocery store when I am hungry, I want to buy everything that looks good instead of just what's on my list.  I try to go after I have eaten so I don't run into that problem!

People talking while I am reading doesn't bother me.  Unless they are talking really loud! I learned to tune things out when I was teaching.

I don't handle rejection very well.  It seems like the response would be, well, doesn't everyone handle rejection poorly.  No.  There are people who can bounce back from a rejection easily. And I don't just mean in the romantic way, although that is surely difficult.  Any kind of rejection:  Someone didn't like my cooking.  Or maybe they don't like my laugh. Or don't want me on their team. Or worse, maybe they reject me for a reason that I cannot control.  No fun!

Have a great weekend!  Good weather, good friends, or whatever makes you happy!

Friendly Fill-ins (Halloween is around the corner)

Friendly Fill-ins is hosted by Four Legged Furballs and 15andmeowing who provide the sentence starters.

1. My main concern right now is _________.

2. I plan to _________ for Halloween this year.

3. If I saw a ghost, I would _________.

4. This time of year, _________ is a personal tradition of mine.

1My main concern right now has several pieces: (A) My mom who moved into assisted living 3 months ago and has a few health issues as well as cognitive impairment.  (B) My father-in-law took another fall.  He is 92 and not as steady on his feet as usual.  (C) Myself and many personal issues so I don't have just one main concern.  Let me ask your opinion... How do you feel about people who seek counseling to cope with personal issues?

2For Halloween this year, I plan to turn my outside light off (we hardly got any trick-or-treaters last year anyway, and I can't have leftover candy in the house!).  Mainly, I will be watching game 5 of the World Series.

3If I saw a ghost, I would... honestly, I'd probably freak out a lot.  I feel like I've been in the presence of a ghost before, but I haven't actually SEEN the ghost, so that might be weird.  I don't think ghosts want to hurt us.

4This time of year, a personal tradition of mine is to  put out a properly themed wreath for the upcoming season and to make some decorations and other items to give to friends and family (and some for myself, too).

See you Sunday for a new book review!

Friendship, Fill-ins, and Fun on Friday

Hi Friends!  I haven't been terribly crafty lately, just doing things that have been requested such as mending seams and hemming pants.  But I did pick up a few supplies at the Dollar Tree yesterday and can't wait to use them.  Usually, I'm the one crafting for other people, but last week at my mom's senior living facility, they made these cute fall wreaths, and she gave me hers.

It's so cute, and she was so proud of herself.  I'm happy she is staying active and trying new things.  I'm linking this post with Create with Joy.

These Fill-In  questions were provided by 15 and Meowing and Four Legged Furrballs:
1. I plan to ___________________ these last few days of August.
2. I am a ________________________.
3. _________ is proving difficult these days.
4. Have I ever told you about the time that I _________?

Here are my answers:

1.  Unfortunately, I am spending 2 of the last 3 days of August preparing then having a colonoscopy. Too much information!

2.  I am a retired teacher as of December 2019, just in time for COVID to hit.  I dodged that bullet!

3.  Losing weight is difficult.  Scratch that.  Finding the motivation to even care about it is difficult right now.

4. Not too long ago, when we were NOT riddled with COVID, my husband and I travelled to Memphis to watch our Houston Rockets play.  We had no idea we had booked the same hotel as them, so we actually rode  the elevator with some of them.  I'm not too shy, so I asked for photos.  What could they do?  Say no?  We were in an elevator!  LOL

Here's one of the pictures.  Yes, I'm short.  And yes, he's super tall!  Can you tell I'm excited?  I look like a dork!

Have a great weekend!
