"Creative Writer"

I was "awarded" this wonderful award by my dear blog friend at LuLu's Petals. Thank you Miss Petals. Now to get on with the rules of this award which will involve a series of truths and one lie.
1. In my family, there are numerous sets of twins. My ex-husband's paternal grandmother was an identical twin. My paternal grandmother was a fraternal twin. My second cousin has identical twins. My ex- husband and I have fraternal twins. And my step-son has identical twins. Only one of these sets of twins was due to fertility treatment, while the others were just chance.

2. When I was 15, I almost died. I took a prescribed dose of ampicillan, and within minutes, my feet were itching like crazy. The itchies moved to other parts of my body into full-blown hives. My throat began to swell closed. The only person with me at the time was my boyfriend. He called my mom and we drove to her house then on to the hospital. I went into anaphylactic shock. I had to receive shots of epinephrine to keep my heart from stopping and several shots of benedryl for the swelling and hives.

3. Along the same medical theme, I'm the only person I know who is allergic to tetanus. We discovered this when I was about 5 or 6 walking barefoot on a new construction site where I wasn't supposed to be. I had blackmailed my sister into letting me tag along by saying that I would tell on her if she didn't let me come, too. So, off we went. I stepped on a rusty nail. I was rushed to the hospital where they attempted to give me tetanus after they removed the nail. I had a terrible reaction and haven't had a tetanus shot since! And who did I want in the exam room with me? You guessed it! My sister.

4. Speaking of when I was little... Growing up, we had a tree in the back yard that had this odd-shaped growth of bark on the side of it. My sister told me it was an alligator who lived in the tree. Gullibe little me! I believed her! I wouldn't go outside to my playhouse at all after dark. When I did go outside in the daytime, I would start running at the edge of the patio and get my feet off the ground the moment I reached the swingset or shut the playhouse door as quickly as I could. As I grew older, I realized how ridiculous it was, but old habits are hard to break. If my dad asked me to go get something in the little house where he kept his tools, I would balk at the request. Finally, years later, the tree came down. Then, and only then, did I let the secret out and tell my mom why I had always been scared of the back yard. By then, I was 18 years old. Thanks, sis.

5. I used to play bingo with my mom on a regular basis. I had as special board that allowed me to stack my card packs. I usually played 60 cards at a time. One weekend, we went to an Indian reservation in Oklahoma. I won $1200 on a game of bingo and had to claim the money on my income tax return.
6. I got to meet my favorite Houston Rocket (basketball player) Luis Scola after one of the home games this year. He's huge! Like two feet taller than I am. And he said in his Argentinian accent, "Pleased to meet you Miss.....(insert name)." He gave me a big, sweaty hug.
7. I was born with aortic stenosis, a heart condition. The doctors thought I would need open heart surgery before I was a teenager, and they didn't think I would ever be able to bear the stress of childbirth. I was restricted from many physical activities as a child, and my dad used to worry that I would die. Fooled everyone, though! I'm still going strong with the same aortic valve and haven't needed a cardiologist in years.

Leave a comment telling me which of these you think is the lie. Six are true, one is not. If you're the first person to guess correctly, you'll get something! I don't know what you'll get yet, probably a small gift card, but soemthing!

The rules are as follows:
- thank the person who gave you the award
- copy the logo and place it on your blog
- link to the person who nominated you
- tell up to six outrageous lies about yourself and at least one outrageous truth, or vice-versa
- nominate seven "creative" writers
- post links to the blogs you nominated

I nominate these wonderful, creative blogs for this award:
*Tamy at 3 Sides of Crazy who has been a dear blog friend for a long time and is about to become a friend in real life. I also love her recipes!
*Calico Crazy at Calico Contemplations, a newer blog friend who is fun to read.
*Jenn at My Kids are My World because she's also a dear blogging friend, and I love her blog.
*Barb at Skittles Place, who was also nominated by Lucy, because she never fails to evoke emotion, whether humor, empathy, love, and everything in between.
*Tammy at Queen Size Funny Bone, also nominated by Lucy, who is another blogger I've kept up with for years, because she cracks me up so often but can also make me cry.
*Rick at Myrtle Beach Ramblings, a former (and still occasional) Sunday Scribblings pal who never fails to make me laugh, think, or both.
* D2 at My Life is Based on a True Story because I love this gal, and she writes so well, but she has not blogged in a while. I miss her posts. Maybe this will get her back into it.
