BE CAREFUL NOT TO INCLUDE SPOILERS!

(Make sure that what you share doesn’t give too much away! You don’t want to ruin the book for others!),

Share the title & author, too, so that other TT participants can add the book to their TBR Lists if they like your teaser.

"I carried only $25,000 worth of insurance on the building, far too little to replace it, so to reopen would mean a trip to the bank for a mortgage. Then came more bad news. I passed some blood, and Jeanette insisted I see a doctor about it.

"Julie's cries brought Mike running inside.
She stood beside the machine, her face white as she hit the delete button over and over.
'What happened?' Mike demanded. 'Are you okay?'"

I am on page 122 of The Guardian. I'm enjoying it so far. I didn't really like the book I wrote my teaser on last week, The Lottery Rose, even though I realize it was a young adult novel. This one better written, at least, so far.

"Well, I'll tell you something," he said. "She stole Robin when he was a baby, and she said, 'I'm mad, so I'll put a curse on you. You'll never learn to talk more than a few words - you won't learn to read - or nothin'.' "

I got a new book this weekend that I'm anxious to read, but I have to finish Dead Time first, which is a pretty good book, by the way. Wish I had more time to read!
Fang, A Maximum Ride Novel
by James Patterson
Page 194
" 'Max has actually been a pretty good leader - she's kept you alive; she's taught you how to survive. I know you have your problems with her. I do, too.' He gave a litle laugh. 'But here you are: You're a flock and you need a leader. Angel says that she's the leader, and I guess you guys are agreeing to it.' "
I can't wait to read this!

My current read is Dead Time by Stephen White.
Page 213

"He departed the empty conference room at 2:15 the next morning with a topo map of the park, a couple of pages of notes he'd taken, and a string of questions in his head about what had actually happened to Jaana the night she had disappeared. Sam told me he left a note for Ranger Ramona detailing his new questions.... He wanted to know if the park's visitor logs showed Nick Paulson returning to the canyon floor around the time the hiking boots were found."

I love Stephen White books and phychological, suspenseful stories in general. This one should not disappoint, like my two previous reads!

This is the book my book club chose to read this month.

I'm With the Band: Confessions of a Groupie
by Pamela Des Barres
Page 146

"While Larry blasted away at the innocent cottontails, I made my escape from the Studebaker asylum and silent infant, trundling through the tumbleweeds until I found a four dollar motel next to a truck stop in the middle of nowhere. I sat down on the lumpy bed, and opened my fiddle case, hoping to soothe my worried mind by sawing on it for a few minutes, and to my abject dismay, the dregs I hitched a ride with had weighed down my fiddle case with a rusty old electric razor I couldn't even hock!"

Not sure if I'm going to like this book or not. It's billed as a "sexual memoir" based on the author's exploits during the 60's and 70's rock scene. We shall see.

Don't forget to enter my giveaway for the book Love in a Time of Homeschooling.

Nefertiti by Michelle Moran

Page 210

"And before the Elder was even cold in his tomb, Akhenaten and Nefertiti knelt before the alter that had once been Amun's, and Panahesi annointed them Pharaoh and Queen of all Egypt. I sat in the first row in lapis and gold, and while choirs of boys raised their sweet voices to the sun, all across Thebes Pharaoh's army defaced images of our greatest gods."

I didn't think I would enjoy this book much (I'm reading it for a book club, and I didn't select it), but I am thoroughly enjoying this! Drama, romance, betrayal, history. It's got it all!

Dead Time by Stephen White
Page 115
"Is she dead?"
"She may be dead. She may not be."
I chewed on the sparse details for a moment before I said, "Why don't you call the people we know in Boulder yourself? Why do you want me to do it?"

I can't wait to read this!

The Lovely Bones by Alice Sebold. Page 40:
"The odd thing about earth was what we saw when we looked down. Besides the initial view that you might suspect, the old ants-from-the-skyscraper phenomenon, there were souls leaving bodies all over the world."

Happy Reading!

Witch and Wizard by James Patterson is a book I am about to read, so this is a teaser for me, too!

Page 89 "Have you ever tried to think loudly? It seems like a contradiction in terms. But you do what you gotta do when you have to pretend you can't hear the sounds of the vicious snarling and snapping jaws and teeth all around you."

"Coming here is ugly and hardly auspicious, like stepping into the past, which is precisely what Baba wants us to do with these marriage. Still, May and I have come, obedient as dogs, stupid as water buffalo."

I'm reading this for a book club that my friend started two weeks ago. So far, I've only finished about ten percent of the book. I'm not sure how I feel about it yet, but perhaps I'll update as I read more. If you've read it, let me know your thoughts (without giving away too much, of course.) Have a great week!
