Thursday Thirteen

A 13 line poem in honor of Thursday Thirteen and my first day back at school since August 24.

First day back
since Harvey arrived uninvited,
Exhausted,
10 1/2 hour day,
Flooded classroom,
Doesn't smell good,
Personal items destroyed,
but I'm Texas strong,
Students come Monday,
Can't let them down,
Can't wait to see them,
Never thought I'd say it,
I'm ready!

  1. Everybody's watching. Most of the folks I know are doing at least some small something to help. Know that we've got your back, Teacher.
    Hang in there!

  2. I have another friend from Texas who is a teacher. I feel for you both. That much mucking out, with the loss of belongings on top of just plain labor, has got to be a pain. Congrats on being ready!

  3. I am so sorry you've had to go through that. Losing items to flooding is miserable and it leaves a great mess. Be blessed.
